Black Film Now (Work-In-Progress), USA, 2014, 25 min

BLACK FILM NOW is the first documentary to explore the New Black Film Revolution. More films have been made by African-Americans in the past decade than in the entire history of film before it. Reelblack delves into its archive of interviews collected for its TV show since 2006, to examine the current state of Black Film. Where are we now? What are our concerns? Where are we going? Featuring exclusive interviews with Spike Lee, Haile Gerima, Ava DuVernay, Will Packer, Terence Nance, Nekisa Cooper, Devon Franklin, Tanya Hamilton, Neil Drumming, Dr. Tukufu Zuberi, Harry Belafonte, Kerry Washington, Kimberly Elise, Baratunde Turston, Anthony Mackie, Cheryl Dunye, Paul Mooney, Kevin Hart, Marlon Wayans, Ice-T and Issa Rae. Black Film Now begins a dialog on cinema that is long overdue.
Filmmaker: Michael J. Dennis
