Academy 101

Children ages 6-12 years explore acting, voice, movement, dance and music from the African American and African Diaspora. Learn to be global.

Spring quarter classes run April 7 – June 9  (10 weeks).
Saturdays, 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
Fee: $125

Academy 201 and 202

Youth ages 13-18 years investigate the authentic, legendary and evolving African American and Diaspora performing arts. Students will focus on acting, voice, movement, dance and music.

Summer Youth Academy: 6-12 Years

Youth ages 6-12 years will begin a five week journey learning the fundamentals of voice through written and spoken word, acting through story and improvisation, movement and dance (jazz, modern and ballet), simple costuming and set design while highlighting the history of great African American artists. Students will showcase in a culminating performance on stage!

Summer Academy dates: July 9 to August 10 (5 weeks).
Tuesday-Friday, 9:30 – 4 p.m.
Fee: $235

Teen Summer Academy and Musical: 13-18 years (19 if still enrolled in HS)

Youth ages 13-18 years (19 if still enrolled in HS) will embark on an intensive six week journey which will include an intensive Academy curriculum introducing youth to the fundamentals of Acting (anatomy, voice, improvisation, writing, and ensemble work), Movement (African, hip hop, break dancing, jazz, modern and ballet) and Voice (song). Students will be introduced to simple costuming and set design while highlighting the history of great African American artists. Student will work will culminate in a devised production that will be performed on stage!

Summer Musical dates: July 9 to August 18 (6 weeks).
Tuesday-Friday, 9:30 – 4 p.m.
